Meet Kelly Fogel: Ohana One Photographer

Meet Kelly Fogel, our dedicated Ohana One photographer and a Los Angeles-based documentary artist whose lens has journeyed across five continents, capturing the essence of some of the world's most remote and inspiring locations.

Her summers in a small Costa Rican village and a high school internship on Capitol Hill instilled in her a passion for uncovering untold stories and amplifying voices that often go unheard. In 2017, she fully embraced photography, transforming her craft into a catalyst for social change. In Havana, she immersed herself in the local skateboarding scene, capturing not only their impressive skills but also the strong community bonds. In Ethiopia’s Omo Valley, she documented the impact of a dam’s construction on local livelihoods, giving a platform to stories that seldom reach the mainstream. Her work has been showcased in Los Angeles and Washington, DC, and in 2019, she was honored with the Focus Competition award at Photo LA. Her rare photograph of an elephant consuming her placenta, featured in Scientific American and Joyce Pool’s ethogram for Elephant Voices, highlights her ability to capture the extraordinary in nature.

Over the past four years, Kelly has focused her talents on collaborating with Ohana One. Working closely with our physician teams in Mozambique and beyond, she documents the groundbreaking virtual technology revolutionizing remote surgical training. Her images reveal surgeons in rural clinics being guided by mentors from afar, mothers finding relief as their children successfully undergo complex procedures, and communities uniting in the spirit of progress. Each photograph Kelly takes is more than an image; it is a narrative of hope, innovation, and the power of human connection.
